First Ride Logo
Although I never owned horses until I was an adult I remember my youth as a time of always waiting for the weekend when I could be on a horse. I don't even recall the first time I rode, but for years my parents faithfully ferried me back and forth to ride at one stable or another, staunchly refusing to buy me my own horse. Now I am in a position to share the dream of riding horses with others.

FIRST RIDES welcomes beginners of ALL ages; we’ve had toddlers as young as 8 months come to the barn and giggle gleefully at being held atop a pony.

But FIRST RIDES is more than just a pony ride: Children can enjoy a farm visit, gather eggs from our exotic chickens, watch kittens romp, and have a fun and non -stressful introduction to the world of horses. Most horse facilities don't want young children underfoot, but we welcome them.

For adults, FIRST RIDES offers an introduction (or reintroduction) to horsemanship through creative play, visualization and one on one interaction which facilitates confidence building.

In addition, we can easily accommodate special needs. For example, people who are allergic to horses can ride our hypoallergenic “Curly” horse
[ www.curlyhorses.org ] or adults with arthritis can enjoy the smooth ride of our gaited Paso Finos [ www.pfha.org ].
